After a brief delay at BWI airport, we’re live from the lovely people’s republic of Ypsilanti Michigan, 30 minutes away (under normal conditions) from the Big House in Ann Arbor.
Tomorrow of course is PSU-Michigan, the Wolverines have won eight consecutive games in the series. It’s been 11 years since PSU last won (1996) when a guy named Wally Richardson was the starting quarterback.
On the ride out, had the chance to chat with Derrick Williams’ parents, they of course were on the same flight. Very nice people. Also there are a handful of PSU fans here, we’ve seen a few in the Marriot Lobby already as well. By the way, Mr. and Mrs. Williams are two of the best player parents I’ve met, ever. Very, very nice people.
Emotionally you have to wonder how Joe Paterno is holding up, his mother-in-law passed yesterday, per Steve Jones on Nittany Lion hotline, and the pressure of finally being able to beat Michigan has to be weighing on him.
Along with the five keys I put in Thursday’s weekly tab, here are some other thoughts on this game.
I’d use Daryll Clark at some point, Michigan has had trouble with rushing quarterbacks.
PSU should open the game up….people would have more respect for Anthony Morelli if they didn’t have to watch him throw those five yard passes and dink and duck stuff. They need to go 5-wide, two-minute style offense and throw the ball all over the yard.
I really believe that Mike Hart is going to have a monster game. That’s a tough think to predict because the PSU rush defense is so damn good, but this is Mike Hart. It’s not FIU, Notre Dame or Buffalo.
I also believe that despite the assertion that Ryan Mallett will play, we’re going to see Chad Henne. Just a hunch.
I said 20-13 Michigan. I have to stick to that.
