Clark: “I feel a lot better”

Penn State quarterback Daryll Clark chatted with reporters this morning and declared himself “back” after two performances in which he was really hard on himself in the postgame.

Clark said “the swagger is on the way back,” referring to how he played earlier in the season compared to the last two games against Iowa and Indiana.

The junior said he talked to his mom who said she didn’t see the “shine in his eye,” that she saw earlier in the season but it was found after talking to his parents and teammates. Clark said that he was joking with teammates and laughing at practice earlier this week.

Other points he made during his 30 minute session

  • Clark said Evan Royster is one of the best running backs in the country and told a reporter “quote me on this.” He added that its a shame he’s been under the radar all season.
  • The offense hasn’t changed much during the course of the season, the only way its changed is with the addition of the Wildcat formation with Derrick Williams. Clark said they haven’t added much but they’ve “tightened” things up.
  • His mechanics weren’t an issue.
  • This is one of the biggest games he will ever play in because of how tight the senior class is.
  • He plans to “leave it all out there,” this weekend.
  • His mindset as the season and career have gone on is better than it used to be. Apparently when Clark got to PSU he was hard on himself after every little mistake in practice.
  • About the playcalling, Clark said the team just has to go run the plays, not question them and be ready to do everything.
